About the film:

The never-before-told story behind the music of Jimmie and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Discover how two brothers went from a small, post-war house in Oak Cliff, Texas to becoming rock and roll legends, selling millions of records and playing alongside the likes of David Bowie, Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jackson Browne, Carlos Santana and more.

A portion of the film is devoted to Jimmie and Eric Clapton’s first ever on-camera interviews about the night that Stevie died. Featuring newly revealed photos, home movies, and previously untold stories, Jimmie & Stevie Ray Vaughan: Brothers in Blues (2023) is a rare and intimate look into the tragedies and the glory of the Vaughan brothers as told by Jimmie, Eric Clapton, Jackson Browne, Billy Gibbons, Nile Rodgers, as well as bandmates and friends from the early days of their enduring legacy.

About the filmmaker:

Kirby Warnock is a Texas-based American filmmaker. His first film, the documentary Return to Giant (1996), was a look at the Academy Award-winning 1956 film Giant from the perspective of the Big Bend area of West Texas, where it was filmed. Warnock graduated from Baylor University and moved to Dallas in 1976, where he was hired as an editor at Buddy magazine, covering stories in a wide-range of musical genres, including Texas progressive country, rock, blues, jazz, folk, punk, and garage band music. He called on that experience to direct his documentary When Dallas Rocked (2012), a deep dive in the era when the area dominated rock music, featuring interviews, rare backstage photos and some “lost’ video from the 1950s to 1970s. Jimmie & Stevie Ray Vaughan: Brothers in Blues (2023) is his most recent film.
