Bar Services Manager

Base salary range: $50,000 – $70,000 annually, plus incentives based on performance

The Bar Services Manager will lead the three bar concepts owned by the Gateway Film Foundation: Craft Services, The Festival Lounge, and The Torpedo Room. This individual will help to create and implement innovative food and beverage programs designed to enhance the Gateway Film Center program, with the role primarily focusing on training, scheduling, and management of Bar Services Associates and Coordinators, equipment maintenance upkeep and product organization of Foundation Bar spaces, improving security and addressing product and cash shortages, and achieving the overall results as determined by the Foundation CEO, Foundation Board of Directors, and the President of Gateway Film Center.

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in hospitality management, business, or, in a culinary field of study.
  • 5-7 years of success in a culinary management role and the ability to provide references in support of this experience.
  • Comfort and experience in training and coaching employees with varying competence and experience levels.
  • A combination of interest and experience in executing food and beverage menus, including sourcing, ordering, inventory, and merchandising.
  • Experience with scheduling and working with third party vendors.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Cleaning and organizational skills which meet and maintain Film Center standards.
  • Excellent customer service and employee coaching skills.
  • Comfort with basic office duties including phone work, reporting, scheduling, and maintaining filing systems.

Example Job Responsibilities

  • Works to create a positive, optimistic, and disciplined culture within the Bar Services team.
  • Executes seasonal and permanent menu initiatives, helps source items from vendors, and assists in the building of recipes for each of the Film Center’s three bar concepts: Craft Services, The Festival Lounge, and The Torpedo Room.
  • Is responsible for the training, scheduling, evaluation, management, and off-boarding of Film Center teammates.
  • Manages daily planning, execution, and upkeep of bar operations, with a focus on dress code, security, and daily debrief policy compliance, customer service, product safety, service efficiency, and overall profitability.
  • Conducts weekly inventory ordering counts, meets weekly with Film Center Finance team members, and assists in the execution of weekly financial reporting.
  • Ensures compliance with local requirements and health codes.
  • Assists and supports all Gateway Film Foundation events and fundraising activities.
  • Takes ownership over the presentation and consistency of bar product execution.
  • Work alongside the Admissions Services Manager, the Development Manager, the Financial Services Manager, the Human Resources Manager, the Operations Manager, and the Sales and Marketing Manager to develop and report on KPI-driven plans to achieve annual goals.
  • Create brand-aligned communication tools, including but not limited to service and execution standards.
  • Assists in the selection and on-boarding of associates.

Anticipated Schedule

  • 40-50 hours per week. Nights, weekends, and holidays are required.

  • This role reports directly to the Vice President of Gateway Film Center.

 

 

Facility Operations Manager

Base salary range: $50,000 – $70,000 annually, plus incentives based on performance

The Facility Operations Manager will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, functionality, and aesthetic appeal of the Film Center while upholding our commitment to excellence and achieving the overall results as determined by the Foundation CEO, Foundation Board of Directors, and the President of Gateway Film Center.

Key Responsibilities

  • Facility Maintenance: Supervise and coordinate all aspects of facility maintenance, including film and digital projectors, HVAC systems, plumbing, electrical systems, lighting, networks, and general building upkeep.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensure compliance with all relevant health and safety regulations, building codes, and environmental standards. Implement and enforce safety protocols to protect patrons, employees, and property.
  • Vendor Management: Oversee relationships with external vendors, contractors, and service providers to ensure quality workmanship, cost-effectiveness, and timely completion of projects. Obtain competitive bids and negotiate contracts as needed.
  • Budget Management: Manages the facility operations budget, including forecasting, expense tracking, and cost-saving initiatives. Monitor expenses and identify opportunities for efficiency improvements. Work alongside the Admissions Services Manager, the Bar Services Manager, the Development Manager, the Financial Services Manager, the Human Resources Manager, and the Sales and Marketing Manager to develop and report on KPI-driven plans to achieve annual goals.
  • Staff Supervision: Lead, motivate, and mentor a team of maintenance technicians and custodial staff. Provide training, guidance, and performance feedback to ensure high standards of professionalism and productivity.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Gain approval for and help to implement emergency response plans, including evacuation procedures, fire safety protocols, and crisis management strategies. Conduct regular training sessions to prepare staff for emergency situations.
  • Activity Support: Collaborate with activities coordinators and technical staff to support the setup, operation, and breakdown of special events, screenings, and performances. Coordinate facility logistics and ensure seamless execution of events.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for process optimization, workflow enhancements, and infrastructure upgrades to enhance the overall efficiency and functionality of the facility. Implement best practices and innovative solutions to achieve operational excellence.

 

Qualifications Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in facility operations management, preferably in a hospitality, entertainment, or similar environment.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building systems and projection equipment, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and fire protection systems.
  • Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to inspire and motivate a diverse team.
  • Proven track record of effective budget management, cost control, and resource allocation.
  • Solid understanding of regulatory requirements, safety standards, and industry best practices.
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and decision-making skills, with a proactive approach to resolving issues.
  • Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed, and to respond to emergencies outside of regular business hours.
  • Certification in Facilities Management (e.g., CFM) or related professional credentials is a plus.
