Awards season at the Film Center is cherished tradition, gathering our community of film-lovers together to celebrate the art of film. Once again, join us as we revisit the stories that moved us with the return of our favorite celebrations, including the 2023 Oscar Nominations Breakfast and The 2023 Awards Gala at Gateway Film Center.

The 2023 Awards Gala at Gateway Film Center
Come join us March 12th as we raise our glasses together at the 4th annual Awards Gala at Gateway Film Center, hosted by Film Center advisory board members Maria Durant (ABC6/FOX28 News) and Gregg Dodd (Columbus Metropolitan Library).
The evening will begin with a cocktail hour at 6:00pm with elevated hors d’oeuvres and one-of-a-kind themed cocktails. Chat with your fellow lovers of film, culture, and art, and commemorate the occasion with red carpet photos. And don’t forget to finalize your predictions and submit your ballot for a chance to “Beat the President” in our annual ballot competition! The Gallery at Gateway Film Center will also be open for viewing throughout the evening, featuring “Duly Noted” curated by Marshall Shorts as part of our Pioneers of African American Cinema program.
The 95th Academy Awards ceremony will begin at 8:00pm, grab a serving from our custom popcorn bar as we cheer on the contenders, and toast to the winners. More special surprises will be announced at the party, including the traditional Awards Gala late night treat, before the Best Picture Nominees are announced.
Formal attire is recommended. Tickets are available for individuals ($75 each), couples ($125 total), and myGFC Members ($60 each). Awards Gala tickets also include parking validation (for the South Campus Gateway garage) and two drink tickets, redeemable for cocktails, beer, wine, or non-alcoholic beverages.

Introducing The Center Original Awards
The Center Original Awards will be presented each year to recognize organizations and individuals who have noticeably advanced film culture in our community.
New this year, these awards reflect the values of the Foundation and hope to inspire others in our community.
Award winners will be announced at the Awards Gala on Sunday, March 12, 2023.
Sustainability Award | Presented by Tom Katzenmeyer, GCAC
Presented to an individual or group which has contributed to the work of the Foundation in ways that ensure film culture grows and flourishes in our city.
Artist Award | Presented by John Daugherty, Film Columbus
Given to an artist whose creativity and talent advanced and inspired the region’s film community during the past year.
Service Award | Presented by Larry James, Gateway Film Foundation
Presented to an employee or volunteer who exemplified a professional, proactive, and compassionate demeanor this year and advanced the work of the Foundation in our city.
Community Award | Presented by Chris Hamel, Gateway Film Foundation CEO
The Community Award is awarded to a myGFC member who has gone above and beyond in the pursuit of strengthening our community, and ultimately our mission, this year.

Coming to the Center on February 17
For the 18th consecutive year, ShortsTV and Magnolia Pictures present the Oscar-Nominated Short Films in all three categories – Animated, Live Action and Documentary. The nominees are determined by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences from hundreds of qualifying films crafted by phenomenal artists across the globe.
We are thrilled to continue bringing their stories to Columbus every Awards Season.

The 2023 Annual Nominations Breakfast
Kick off the Awards Season celebrations by watching the announcements live with fellow film overs, film critics, and members of our Film Center team. Complimentary breakfast will be served at 7:30AM, with the nomination announcements beginning around 8AM.
