Gateway Film Center to Reopen for Limited Schedule to Screen Best Picture Nominees

April 22 – April 25

Join your fellow film lovers at the Center for a festival weekend of in-person screenings of the Best Picture nominees. With your Awards Season Pass, you are also invited to join us for the 93rd Academy Awards ceremony on April 25.

Nomadland—Thursday, April 22

After losing everything in the Great Recession, Fern embarks on a journey through the American West, living as a van-dwelling modern-day nomad. Judas and the Black Messiah—Saturday, April 24

FBI informant William O’Neal infiltrates the Illinois Black Panther Party and is tasked with keeping tabs on their charismatic leader, Chairman Fred Hampton. A career thief, O’Neal revels in the danger of manipulating both his comrades and his handler, Special Agent Roy Mitchell. With a knack for courtroom drama, Academy and Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Aaron Sorkin translated this pivotal event in US history for the screen. Sound of Metal—Sunday, April 25

Metal drummer Ruben begins to lose his hearing. When a doctor tells him his condition will worsen, he thinks his career and life is over. His girlfriend Lou checks the former addict into a rehab for the deaf hoping it will prevent a relapse and help him adapt to his new life.
