About the film:
A young New York mother faced with sudden doubts about her marriage teams up with her larger-than-life playboy father to tail her husband. What follows is a sparkling comic adventure across the city—drawing father and daughter closer together despite one detour after another.
Acclaimed filmmaker Sofia Coppola brings a light touch to this blend of an exuberant love letter to New York, a generation-clash comedy about how we see relationships differently from our parents, and a funny celebration of the complications that bind modern families even as they tie us in crazy knots.
About the filmmaker:
Screenwriter, director, producer, and performer, Sofia Coppola has earned international recognition for her groundbreaking brand of arthouse film. Among her many accolades, her feature directorial debut, The Virgin Suicides (1999), was nominated for the Golden Camera at Cannes. She was the first American woman to win the Golden Lion at Venice for Somewhere (2010) and second woman to win Best Director at Cannes for The Beguiled (2017).
Her first project with Bill Murray, Lost in Translation (2003), won the Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay with a Best Actor nomination for Murray. Their second collaboration was the Emmy-nominated 2015 TV movie A Very Murray Christmas.
