About the film:
In 1986, five years after the events of The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It, Ed and Lorraine Warren (Patrick Wilson and Vera Farmiga) have retired from confrontations with the supernatural—Ed following a heart attack and both increasingly wary of the darkness they’ve faced. However, the peace is shattered when the Smurl family—Janet and Jack Smurl, along with their daughters—begin experiencing terrifying paranormal disturbances in their Pennsylvania home. The activity includes loud noises, leaks of strange odors, violent attacks, and unexplained physical phenomena.
Drawn by both duty and compassion, the Warrens reluctantly return for one last case, plunged into perhaps the darkest and most unresolved haunting of their careers. As they investigate, their adult daughter Judy (Mia Tomlinson) and her boyfriend Tony Spera (Ben Hardy) become deeply involved—introducing generational tension, emotional stakes, and a fresh yet personal perspective.
This film marks a deeply emotional and atmospheric conclusion to the Warrens’ story—staying true to the terrifying paranormal roots of the franchise while honoring its emotional legacy.
About the filmmaker:
Michael Chaves (born November 3, 1984) is an American filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, editor, and visual effects artist. He began his career directing several short films, including The Maiden (2016), which won the Best Super Short Horror Film Award at Shriekfest 2016 . Chaves also created and directed the television series Chase Champion (2015), showcasing his versatility in both horror and comedy genres.
Transitioning to feature films, Chaves directed The Curse of La Llorona (2019), a supernatural horror film produced by James Wan and set within The Conjuring Universe. He continued his work within this universe by directing The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) and The Nun II (2023), both produced by Wan and Peter Safran . Chaves is also set to direct The Conjuring: Last Rites (2025), marking the ninth installment in the franchise.
In addition to his film work, Chaves directed the music video for Billie Eilish’s “Bury a Friend” (2019) . He is currently signed on to direct another horror film, The Reckoning, for Michael Bay’s production company, Platinum Dunes .
