About the filmmaker:
David Ayer is an American filmmaker and screenwriter known for character-driven stories that draw on his own experiences and longstanding interest in law enforcement, military culture, and urban life. He first established himself as a screenwriter with Training Day (2001), the acclaimed crime thriller directed by Antoine Fuqua that earned Denzel Washington an Academy Award. Ayer went on to make his directorial debut with Harsh Times (2005), followed by Street Kings (2008), End of Watch (2012)—considered by many to be one of the best American cop movies ever made—Sabotage (2014), Fury (2014), and Suicide Squad (2016), among others. Heart of the Beast (2026) is his latest feature.
