Winner of 6 Oscars at the 2016 Academy Awards. Years after the collapse of civilization, the tyrannical Immortan Joe enslaves apocalypse survivors inside the desert fortress the Citadel. When the warrior Imperator Furiosa (Charlize Theron) leads the despot’s five wives in a daring escape, she forges an alliance with Max Rockatansky (Tom Hardy), a loner and former captive. Fortified in the massive, armored truck the War Rig, they try to outrun the ruthless warlord and his henchmen in a deadly high-speed chase through the Wasteland.
About the filmmaker:
George Miller is an award-winning Australian director, producer, screenwriter, and former emergency medical doctor. He’s best known for creating the Mad Max franchise, which began in 1979 and includes Mad Max 2 (1981), Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome (1985), and Mad Max: Fury Road (2015). Miller’s career-defining hit, Mad Max, was partly inspired by the chaos he witnessed as a doctor and accidents he saw as a child.
