Winter Sucks 2024 at Gateway Film Center

A collection of the most blood-thinning vampire films of all time

About the film:

Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) doesn’t expect much when she moves from Phoenix, Arizona to the small town of Forks, Washington, until she meets the mysterious and handsome Edward Cullen (Robert Pattinson)—a boy who’s hiding a dark secret: he’s a vampire. As their worlds and hearts collide, Edward must battle the bloodlust raging inside him as well as a coterie of undead that would make Bella their prey.

“Twilight stands as a powerful, darkly stylish depiction of teen female desire”

—Anne Cohen, Refinery29

About the filmmaker:

Catherine Hardwicke is an American film director, production designer, and screenwriter. After years working on films for directors like Richard Linklater, David O. Russell, Cameron Crowe, and Lisa Cholodenko, Hardwicke shook up the independent film world and earned the 2003 Directing Award at Sundance for her feature directorial debut Thirteen (2003). She followed up with Lords of Dogtown (2005), Red Riding Hood (2011), Miss You Already (2015), and The Prisoner’s Daughter (2022) which premiered at the 2022 Toronto International Film Festival. Twilight (2008), her most commercially successful film, broke box-office records as the highest grossing opening weekend for a film by a female director. Additionally, she directed the music video for the Emmy Award-winning song “Till It Happens To You” by Lady Gaga.
