A collection of the most blood-thinning vampire films of all time
About the film:
Born as an 18th-century lord, Louis is now a bicentennial vampire, telling his story to an eager biographer. Suicidal after the death of his family, he meets Lestat, a vampire who persuades him to choose immortality over death and become his companion. Eventually, gentle Louis resolves to leave his violent maker, but Lestat guilts him into staying by turning a young girl—whose addition to the “family” breeds even more conflict.
“As strange and mesmerizing as it is imaginatively ghastly.“
— Janet Maslin, The New York Times
About the filmmaker:
Neil Jordan is an Irish film director and screenwriter whose atmospheric work often involved violence and explored issues of love and betrayal. Jordan was a novelist and short-story writer when he was hired by John Boorman as a script consultant, officially entering the film industry. Jordan went on to garner acclaim for directing The Crying Game (1992)—a film for which he won an Academy Award and the fine distinction of creating one of the most notorious plot twists in cinema history. Returning to Hollywood, he directed the more commercially successful Interview with the Vampire (1994) based off of the novel of the same name by Anne Rice, in 1994.
