About the film:
A chance encounter with a mysterious cat sends Shizuku, a quiet schoolgirl, on a quest for her true talent. Together with Seiji, a boy determined to follow his dreams, and enchanted by The Baron, a magical cat figurine who helps her listen to the whispers of her heart, Shizuku embarks on a life-changing adventure that takes her beyond the boundaries of her imagination. This beautiful tale based on a screenplay from Hayao Miyazaki will delight and amaze audiences of all ages!
About the filmmaker:
Yoshifumi Kondō is a Japanese animator known for his work with Studio Ghibli. He was selected by Studio Ghibli co-founder Isao Takahata to first work as animation director on the 1979 Japanese television series Anne of Green Gables. Kondo then went on to animate for several Studio Ghibli projects including Grave of the Fireflies (1988), Kiki’s Delivery Service (1989), Only Yesterday (1991), and Princess Mononoke (1997). He was selected to direct the 1995 film Whisper of the Heart, his only directorial project before his death in 1998. Miyazaki had intended Kondo to be his successor as Studio Ghibli’s film director.
