About the filmmaker:
Sam Yates is an award-winning theatre and film director known for his eclectic body of work with leading talent. Recent projects include Vanya (2024)—filmed live during its sold-out run in London’s West End—and upcoming feature debut Magpie (2024), which has its World Premier at SXSW in 2024. He was named a Screen International Star of Tomorrow in 2016, a rising star in The Observer in 2014, and featured in GQ Men’s “Men of the next 25 years” in 2013. His theatre productions have been nominated for two Olivier Awards: Best Actress in a Supporting Role in a Musical for Murder Ballad (2017) and Outstanding Achievement in an Affiliate Theatre for The Phlebotomist by Ella Road (2019).
