American newlyweds Dr. Shane and June Brown travel to Paris for their honeymoon. Once there, Shane begins a search for his former medical collegaue Leo, who may have information or a cure for the tropical virus that has transformed Leo’s wife into a murderous sexual carnivore, and may soon do the same to Shane.

About the filmmaker:

Claire Denis is a Paris-based filmmaker and one of the major artistic voices of contemporary French cinema. Her feature films including the universally acclaimed Beau Travail (1999)Trouble Every Day (2001)35 Shots of Rum (2008)White Material (2009), and High Life (2018). For Both Sides of the Blade (2022), she won the Silver Bear for Best Director at the Berlin Film Festival. Common themes in Denis’s work include obsession, desire, violence, sex, and feelings of being an outsider. Her directorial debut, the semi-autobiographical Chocolat (1988), was nominated for the Palme d’Or at the 1988 Cannes Film Festival, and her most recent film Stars at Noon (2022) won the Grand Prix in 2022.
