About the filmmaker:
Yeon Sang-ho is a South Korean director and screenwriter celebrated for his darkly imaginative and socially charged storytelling. After earning a degree in Western Painting from Sangmyung University, he launched his career with provocative animated shorts like The Hell and determined his voice in feature filmmaking with The King of Pigs (2011), the first Korean animated film invited to Cannes. He transitioned masterfully into live-action with the groundbreaking zombie thriller Train to Busan (2016), its animated prequel Seoul Station (2016), and the sequels Psychokinesis (2018) and Peninsula (2020). His recent work includes the hit supernatural series Hellbound for Netflix, the graphic novel adaptation Revelations (2025), and mystery thriller The Ugly (2025). This year, he has two features in major festivals—Colony premiered at Cannes in May, and Paradise Lost will premiere at TIFF in September.
