Matt Johnson is a Canadian filmmaker and actor known for sharp, inventive films that blur the line between fact and fiction. He is best known for The Dirties (2013), Operation Avalanche (2016), and BlackBerry (2023), earning acclaim for his bold storytelling, satirical edge, and distinctive approach to modern history and culture. Johnson also co-created the cult comedy series Nirvanna the Band the Show with Jay McCarrol, and directed and co-wrote the feature film Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie, which premiered at SXSW in 2025.
