The story of Project Recover, a small team of accomplished scientists, oceanographers, archaeologists, historians, researchers and military veterans who have dedicated their lives to scouring the depths of the ocean and the farthest corners of the earth to search for, recover, and repatriate the remains of the more than 80,000 Americans missing in action since WWII.
With breathtaking imagery alongside intimate interviews with team members and the families of missing veterans, To What Remains focuses on Project Recover’s 2018 search for pilots whose planes went missing during the Battle of Peleliu in the autumn of 1944.
About the filmmaker:
Director and cinematographer Christopher Woods began working as a documentary cameraman in 1978 before helming national and international commercial campaigns for numerous clients worldwide. He also led the second unit direction and cinematography on several major motion pictures including Forrest Gump, Elf, and The Christmas Chronicles.
An accomplished pilot, Woods combined his passions for aviation and visual storytelling to craft the compelling new documentary To What Remains.
