Shortly after learning that the sun is rapidly burning out and will obliterate Earth, humans build enormous engines to propel the planet to a new solar system far out of reach of the sun’s fiery flares. However, the journey into the universe is complex, and humankind’s last shot at survival will depend on a group of young people brave enough to step up and execute a dangerous, life-or-death operation to save the Earth.
About the filmmaker:
Frant Gwo is a Chinese filmmaker. He studied law at Hainan University, but spent much of his time creating comics and graphic design, and after graduation, he began working in media and entertainment before ultimately pursuing a career as a sci-fi movie director. In 2009, he entered Beijing Film Academy to study film management. He debuted as a director in 2011 with the film Lee’s Adventure, and then directed the award-winning film My Old Classmate in 2014. In recent years, he directed a segment of the 2020 anthology war film The Sacrifice, and China’s first big-budget science fiction film, 2019’s The Wandering Earth, based on a short story by Hugo Award-winning author Liu Cixin. The film garnered national acclaim and became one of the highest-grossing Chinese films of all time, leading to his 2023 follow-up, The Wandering Earth 2.See our upcoming films
