About the film:

As war and plague devastate 14th-century England, a humble peasant ignites a rebellion, uniting an army of commoners to defy the King’s might in a desperate fight for justice and survival.

Based on the same true events that helped inspire the legend of Robin Hood, The Uprising (2026) tells the story of the Peasants’ Revolt of 1381 against the tyranny of King Richard II — when ordinary people stood against the might of a kingdom.

About the filmmaker:

Paul Greengrass is a BAFTA and Emmy-winning British director, screenwriter, and producer renowned for his visceral, documentary-style filmmaking. He first gained acclaim for politically charged works like Bloody Sunday (2002), which won the Golden Bear at Berlin. Greengrass became internationally recognized for his kinetic, handheld approach to action with The Bourne Supremacy (2004) and The Bourne Ultimatum (2007), both redefining the modern spy thriller. His other acclaimed films include United 93 (2006) — which earned him an Academy Award nomination for Best Director — Captain Phillips (2013), and News of the World (2020). His most recent projects are The Lost Bus (2025) and The Uprising (2026), which continue the director’s focus on real-life stories of resilience under extraordinary pressure.
