After finding himself in a world known as the Mushroom Kingdom, Brooklyn plumber Mario must travel with a princess named Peach and a mushroom named Toad to find his brother Luigi and save the world from a ruthless fire-breathing monster called Bowser.

About the filmmakers:

Aaron Horvath and Michael Jelenic are American animators, screenwriters, producers, and directors. They are best-known for developing the Emmy and BAFTA-nominated animated series Teen Titans Go! for Cartoon Network. Horvath made his directorial debut on the feature film Teen Titans Go! To the Movies (2018), which he directed alongside Peter Rida Michail, with Jelenic co-writing and co-producing. Jelenic also developed Batman: The Brave and the Bold with James Tucker and the 2011 TV series ThunderCats with Ethan Spaulding for Cartoon Network. Horvath and Jelenic co-directed The Super Mario Bros. Movie (2023)

The new Mario film is a collaboration between Illumination and Nintendo, produced by Illumination founder and CEO Chris Meledandri and Mario creator Shigeru Miyamoto, one of the most accomplished and influential designers in the history of video games. Screenplay by Matthew Fogel, who previously wrote the story for The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part (2019) and the screenplay for Minions: The Rise of Gru (2022).
