About the filmmaker:
Nick Broomfield is a renowned British documentary director who pioneered a participatory investigative filmmaking style through a series of groundbreaking films, beginning with his first on-screen appearance in Driving Me Crazy (1988). Unafraid to explore controversial subjects, his stories range from deep dives into high profile celebrities to politics to true crime.
Among other acclaimed works, he directed the Sundance Grand Jury Prize and BAFTA winner Soldier Girls (1982), Sundance Grand Jury Prize nominated Aileen Wuornos: The Selling of a Serial Killer (1992), the provacative Kurt & Courtney (1998) and Biggie & Tupac (2002), his San Sebastian Best Director winner Battle for Haditha (2007), and Tales of the Grim Sleeper (2014), which was shortlisted for the 87th Academy Awards. His recent projects include festival darling Marianne & Leonard: Words of Love (2019) and The Stones and Brian Jones (2023).
