After the sudden and tragic loss of his wife, Ben turns to a mysterious self-help book that will train him to learn how to fly. Or at least he hopes, as he turns his life upside down under the advisement of an eccentric spiritual guide who may very well be a con artist. Fending off his worried sister and an ambitious detective who is convinced he killed his wife, Ben risks it all to fly in an effort to get through his grief.

About the filmmaker:
H.P. Mendoza is a Filipino-American filmmaker and artist best known for his work as screenwriter, composer, and actor on Colma: The Musical (2007), as well as the arthouse horror film, I Am a Ghost (2014). Along with his feature films, Mendoza is also known for his music in films, installations, and albums—particularly his second album, Nomad. Mendoza’s sci-fi musical triptych Attack, Decay, Release (2021) toured around the United States and recently won the Stubbornly Independent Award at the Tallgrass Film Festival. His newest film, The Secret Art of Human Flight (2024), premiered at the 2023 Tribeca Film Festival and earned Mendoza the award for Best Director at the 2023 Ouray International Film Festival.
