Kleber Mendonça Filho is a critically acclaimed Brazilian filmmaker, screenwriter, producer, and former film critic, widely regarded as one of the most important voices in contemporary world cinema. Born on 22 November 1968 in Recife, Pernambuco, Brazil, he studied journalism at the Federal University of Pernambuco before launching his career as a film critic and cinema programmer, writing for outlets such as Jornal do Commercio and Folha de S.Paulo and contributing to the influential cinema website CinemaScópio.
