About the film:
When she arrived at the Elysée Palace, Bernadette Chirac (Catherine Deneuve) expected to finally get the place she deserved, she who had always worked in the shadow of her husband to make him president. About the filmmaker:
Léa Domenach began directing at an early age, directing her first short film while studying film at Columbia University. In 2021, she created and wrote the series “Jeune & Golri”, broadcast on OCS. The same year, she co-wrote “Les Murs Blancs” with her brother Hugo.
Two years later, Léa Domenach wrote and directed her first feature film, The President’s Wife (2025), about the former First Lady and wife of Jacques Chirac. Part satire, part offbeat biopic, this comedy enabled her to direct Catherine Deneuve in the lead role. For the 2025 César ceremony, The President’s Wife (2025) was nominated for the César for the Best First Feature Film.
