About the film:Â
Matthew McConaughey stars as Kevin McKay, a school bus driver down on his luck, estranged from his son, and burdened by personal tragedies. When disaster strikes, Kevin answers a desperate call: pick up 22 elementary school children and their teacher, Mary Ludwig (played by America Ferrera). Together, they must navigate raging flames, collapsing infrastructure, blocked roads, failing communications, and the terror of smoke and heat as Paradise, California, burns around them.
As Kevin and Mary steer through unimaginable danger, the film balances heart-stopping action with emotional stakes—family bonds, personal redemption, and the courage of ordinary people under extraordinary pressure. With immersive sound design, intense visuals, and human-scale heroism, The Lost Bus is both a disaster film and a moving portrait of resilience.
