About the filmmaker:
Francis Lawrence is an American filmmaker and producer who began his career directing music videos. After studying filmmaking at Loyola Marymount University and directing music videos for an independent label, he went on to work with some of the most influential voices in pop and rock music, including Britney Spears, Aerosmith, Janet Jackson, and Gwen Stefani. He achieved commercial success with his first two films—Constantine (2005) and I am Legend (2007)—and went on to direct six films in the Hunger Games franchise based on the novels by Suzanne Collins, which have garnered praise for being faithful adaptations of the original novels. His other work includes feature films Water for Elephants (2011), Red Sparrow (2018), and The Long Walk (2025) based on the 1974 novel by Stephen King.
