World Premiere, 2024 SXSW Film Festival. Walt is an unemployed underachiever who discovers a newfound talent for bowling. Encouraged by a barfly named Skunk, he launches a pro career to save the local bowling alley from foreclosure. With his powerful rolling skills and unconventional style, Walt becomes an unlikely bowling hero – much to the chagrin of legendary champion Linda “The Crusher” Curson.

About the filmmaker: 

The Gutter (2024) is brothers Yassir and Isaiah Lester’s directorial debut. It premiered at SXSW Film Festival in 2024. From Marietta, Georgia, Yassir and Isaiah are both writers and directors with extensive film and television work, with a comedy focus.

Yassir is a stand-up comedian, writer, actor, and director. He got his start performing on comedy stages in Los Angeles such as The Improv and The Comedy Store. He’s written on HBO’s Girls, Mrs. Fletcher, and Ten-Year Old Tom, Apple TV+ LOOT, as well as NBC’s The Carmichael Show and Kenan to name a few. He is also an actor, starring in Amazon Prime’s Sausage Party: Foodtopia premiering in 2024, and is currently writing the film Armor Wars, release date to be announced, for Marvel Studios.

Isaiah Lester is a writer and director, graduating from Vancouver Film School at the top of his class. His writing credits include ABC’s Blackfish, FOX’s Making History and Duncanville, Youtube Red’s Liza on Demand, and NBC’s The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, directing Late Night Fix for Comedy Central digital.
