About the film:
Since giving up his life as a government assassin, Robert McCall has struggled to reconcile the horrific things he’s done in the past and finds a strange solace in serving justice on behalf of the oppressed. Finding himself surprisingly at home in Southern Italy, he discovers his new friends are under the control of local crime bosses. As events turn deadly, McCall knows what he has to do: become his friends’ protector by taking on the mafia.

About the filmmaker:
Antoine Fuqua is the celebrated American filmmaker behind action thrillers like the Academy Award-winning feature Training Day (2001), The Equalizer (2014), and The Magnificent Seven (2016), all of which screened at the Toronto Film Festival. His other features include his feature debut The Replacement Killers (1998), Bait (2000), King Arthur (2004), Shooter (2007), Brooklyn’s Finest (2009), Olympus Has Fallen (2013), Southpaw (2015), The Equalizer 2 (2018), and The Guilty (2021). Among other projects, Fuqua directed numerous music videos, executive produced and directed Showtime’s Suge Knight documentary, American Dream/American Knightmare (2018), and he is an executive producer on Fox’s The Resident.
