The film, directed by George Clooney, is about the 1936 University of Washington rowing team that competed for gold at the Summer Olympics in Berlin. This inspirational true story follows a group of underdogs at the height of the Great Depression as they are thrust into the spotlight and take on elite rivals from around the world.

His career began in television, where his role on ER (1992-1999) propelled him into stardom, taking on iconic leading film roles in From Dusk Till Dawn (1996), O Brother, Where Art Thou? Clooney has directed nine feature films, including The Ides of March (2011), The Monuments Men (2014), and Good Night, and Good Luck (2005), for which he was nominated for Best Director at the 2006 Academy Awards. Among other accolades for his body of work, he has received the Cecil B. DeMille Award in 2015, the Honorary César in 2017, AFI Life Achievement Award in 2018, and the Kennedy Center Honors in 2022.
