After a Black Friday riot ends in tragedy, a mysterious Thanksgiving-inspired killer terrorizes Plymouth, Massachusetts – the birthplace of the infamous holiday.

A long-awaited adaption, Eli Roth’s unhinged holiday slasher Thanksgiving (2023) is based on a trailer for a nonexistent movie he created for Robert Rodriguez and Quentin Tarantino’s horror homage Grindhouse (2007).

About the filmmaker:

Eli Roth is an American actor and filmmaker who has has been a leading force in the horror genre since his feature directorial debut Cabin Fever (2002) screened as a last minute addition to the iconic after-hours Midnight Madness section of the Toronto Film Festival, where he returned with the infamous Hostel (2005) and cannibal horror The Green Inferno (2013). His erotic thriller Knock Knock (2015) premiered at the 2015 Sundance Film Festival. As an actor, Roth starred in Quentin Tarantino’s war film Inglourious Basterds (2009), for which he received a Critic’s Choice Movie Award and an SAG Award as part of the ensemble, and had a fun cameo in Piranha 3-D (2010) from director Alexandre Aja.

Among other projects, he also directed the action thriller remake Death Wish (2018) and PG-rated fantasy comedy The House with a Clock in Its Walls (2018), and he worked on the screenplays for Nicolás López’s earthquake disaster film Aftershock (2012) and RZA’s martial arts film The Man with the Iron Fists (2018). Roth also wrote and directed the upcoming video game adaptation Borderlands. For his body of work, Roth received the Visionary Award at the inaugural Stanley Film Festival in 2013.
