About the film:
New York-based independent investigative journalist Amy Goodman has been reporting from hotspots around the world for decades: from East Timor to Morocco, Nigeria, and Gaza, and closer to home during 9/11 and the Iraq War. Goodman and a small group of colleagues present the daily online, TV, and radio news program Democracy Now!, which has been on the air since 1996 with no government funding, thanks to contributions from donors, foundations, and news consumers.

Carl Deal & Tia Lessin are Academy Award–nominated documentary filmmakers known for their powerful, socially driven work exploring politics, media, and human resilience. As co-founders of Elsewhere Films, they have directed and produced acclaimed features including Trouble the Water, which earned an Oscar nomination and the Sundance Grand Jury Prize, and Citizen Koch. Lessin is also an Emmy Award–winning director for The Janes, while both filmmakers have collaborated extensively with Michael Moore on landmark documentaries such as Fahrenheit 9/11. Their work is distinguished by a commitment to investigative storytelling, cultural relevance, and community impact.
