Simon is a rising star in Montreal’s drag scene performing lively disco pop numbers weekly at his local club. Friendly with his fellow drag queens and supported by his sister, who delights in designing increasingly elaborate and beautiful costumes for his act, Simon vibrates with the passion of his adopted artistic community. When he meets Oliver, the alluring new recruit at the club, their irresistible chemistry sparks an electric romance and a fulfilling creative collaboration. Their dynamic is mesmerizing and tender until Oliver’s dominant instincts and destructive behavior jeopardize Simon’s space in the spotlight. Sophie Dupuis, one of the 10 Canadians to watch according to Variety 2022, has a very specific goal: ʺI want to make films that let you experience strong emotions.ʺ So far, with Family First (2018)—Canada’s pick in the Oscar race for Best Foreign-Language Film in 2019— and her follow-up feature Underground (2020), she’s kept her promise. Dupuis has been praised for being able to make electrifying films about topics that are so distant from her own life in a unique style. For her third film, Solo (2024), Dupuis won Best Canadian Feature Film at the 2023 Toronto International Film Festival, and she won the Directors to Watch Award at the 2023 Palm Springs International Film Festival.
