About the filmmaker:
Kelly Reichardt is an American film director and screenwriter. She is known for minimalist stories centered on everyday life in small communities, giving audiences a profound, multifaceted portrait of the United States. Her films have been selected at major festivals around the world, including Berlin, Cannes, Sundance, Toronto, Venice, Rotterdam, and BFI London. Showing Up (2023), which competed for the Palme d’Or at the 2022 Cannes Film Festival, is her fourth collaboration with actress Michelle Williams, following Wendy and Lucy (2008), Meek’s Cutoff (2010), and Certain Women (2016). She made her feature film debut with River of Grass (1994). Her other feature films include Night Moves (2013) and the critically acclaimed First Cow (2019). She received a United States Artists Fellowship, Guggenheim Fellowship, Anonymous Was a Woman Award, and Renew Media Fellowship. In 2015, she received the first Wexner Center Artist Residency Award from Columbus’s Wexner Center for the Arts.
