Rocky IV: Rocky vs Drago – The Director’s Cut
Director: Sylvester Stallone Run Time: 93 min. Rating: PG Release Year: 2025
Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Dolph Lundgren, Carl Weathers, Talia Shire, Burt Young
Country: United States
Language: English, Russian
About the film:
Sylvester Stallone reimagines his 1985 Cold War showdown with a leaner, more character-driven cut: after Apollo Creed is killed in an exhibition match with Soviet phenom Ivan Drago, Rocky Balboa heads to the USSR to confront his grief—and Drago—training in brutal isolation for a Moscow bout that could cost him everything. This version deepens Apollo’s arc and Rocky’s resolve, pares back the gloss (farewell, robot), adds reshaped fight footage and a rawer sound and edit, and reframes both fighters’ humanity, turning the iconic underdog tale into a bruising meditation on friendship, pride, and redemption.

About the filmmaker:
Sylvester Stallone is an American filmmaker best known as the creator-star of the Rocky and Rambo franchises, and as a director of propulsive, character-driven crowd-pleasers including Paradise Alley (1978), Rocky II (1979), Rocky III (1982), Rocky IV (1985), Staying Alive (1983), Rocky Balboa (2006), Rambo (2008), and The Expendables (2010); his work blends muscular action, mythic underdog arcs, and music-driven montage, culminating in his 2021 re-edit Rocky IV: Rocky vs. Drago — The Director’s Cut.
