Evil doesn’t span eternity without a little help.
In this modern monster tale of Dracula’s loyal servant, Nicholas Hoult stars as Renfield, the tortured aide to history’s most narcissistic boss, Dracula (Nicolas Cage). Renfield is forced to procure his master’s prey and do his every bidding, no matter how debased. But now, after centuries of servitude, Renfield is ready to see if there’s a life outside the shadow of The Prince of Darkness. If only he can figure out how to end his codependency.
About the filmmaker:
Chris McKay is an American filmmaker and animator. He made his feature directorial debut with The Lego Batman Movie (2017) and followed up with the sci-fi action film The Tomorrow War (2021) and the comedy horror film Renfield (2023). McKay also worked on Cartoon Network’s stop motion animation sketch comedy Robot Chicken, creating and voicing the series’ first end title sequence and then returning to direct and edit the third, fourth, and fifth seasons. Between the two, he directed two seasons of Moral Orel.
McKay directed Renfield (2023) from a screenplay by Ryan Ridley, based on an original idea by Robert Kirkman featuring characters from Bram Stoker’s 1897 novel Dracula. It is a reboot of Universal Pictures’ Dracula series.
