A modern retelling of Daphne Du Maurier’s 1938 gothic novel, one of the most famous genre stories ever written. Over the years, numerous adaptations have been produced for film, television, radio, theater, and opera, including Alfred Hitchcock’s Academy Award-winning 1940 film.
About the filmmakers:
Acclaimed English writer-director Ben Wheatley cleverly incorporates comedy and satire into his genre films. Some of his notable works include Toronto International Film Festival favorites: the psychological horror film Kill List (2011), the comedy horror Sightseers (2012), the dystopian thriller High Rise (2015), and the hard-boiled 1970s-set Free Fire (2016).
Recognized for her compelling adaptations of novels and comics, Jane Goldman penned the screenplay for Stardust (2007), Kick-Ass (2010), The Woman in Black (2012), the Kingsman films, and Disney’s upcoming live-action The Little Mermaid. She also wrote Sam Taylor-Johnson’s 2011 short film supporting International Women’s Day and starring James Bond.
