About the filmmaker:
Gabrielle Burton is an American filmmaker, writer, and community engager whose work centers on the complexity hope within human experience. She is best known as the director of the MGM comedy Manna From Heaven and the documentary Kings, Queens, & In-Betweens, exploring the topic of gender through the lens of drag performers in Ohio. Burton is also a prize-winning poet and has won the OAC’s Artist of Excellence award in both poetry and filmmaking. Across film and literature, her work is marked by a deep commitment to amplifying underrepresented perspectives and celebrating resilience, identity, and community. Burton helms Five Sisters Productions with her five real-life sisters, whose films recently were remastered and preserved in the Academy of Motion Pictures archives.
