In the summer of 1983, a 17-year-old Elio spends his days in his family’s villa in Italy. One day Oliver, a graduate student, arrives to assist Elio’s father, a professor of Greco-Roman culture. Soon, Elio and Oliver discover a summer that will alter their lives forever.

Luca Guadagnino is an Italian filmmaker known for his sensuous visual style and emotionally rich storytelling. He gained international acclaim with Call Me by Your Name (2017), which earned multiple Academy Award nominations and won for Best Adapted Screenplay. His diverse body of work—including I Am Love, Suspiria (2018), and Bones and All—spans genres while maintaining a distinctive focus on desire, identity, and atmosphere. Guadagnino’s films are celebrated for their lush aesthetics, bold reinterpretations, and deep sense of place.
