About the filmmaker:

Born in New England, Robert Eggers started off in theater, directing several classic plays. His career as a short film director and art director led to two features, his 2015 debut film The Witch, which earned him numerous accolades including Best Director at Sundance and Best First Feature at the Independent Spirit Awards, and the 2019 Academy Award-nominated The Lighthouse, which also won a FIPRESCI prize at Cannes.
