North American Premiere, Beyond Fest 2024. My Hero Academia is the highly successful Japanese anime series based on the popular comics created by Kohei Horikoshi, which have sold over 100 million copies worldwide. This marks the fourth theatrical release for the franchise.
Set after the conclusion of My Hero Academia Season 6 and right before the final battle between heroes and villains, My Hero Academia: You’re Next (2024) sees Deku and his friends face a new threat—a mysterious figure claiming to be the new Symbol of Peace. Just who is the man calling himself Dark Might?
The Japanese voice cast features returning series stars Daiki Yamashita as Izuku “Deku” Midoriya, Kenta Miyake as Dark Might, alongside Nobuhiko Okamoto, Yuki Kaji, Ayane Sakura, and Kaito Ishikawa. Joining the franchise as voice actors for the new original film characters are Mamoru Miyano and Japan Academy Film Prize “Newcomer of the Year” Meru Nukumi. For the English dub cast, Christopher Sabat returns as the film’s antagonist, Dark Might, with Mauricio Ortiz-Segura and Kayli Mills joining as Giulio Gandini and Anna Scervino, respectively.
About the filmmaker:
Tensai Okamura is a director and writer, known for his work on popular anime films such as Ghost in the Shell (1995), Cowboy Bebop: The Movie (2001), Naruto the Movie: Ninja Clash in the Land of Snow (2004), and the Death segment of Neon Genesis Evangelion: Death & Rebirth (1997). Okamura also directed episodes of many well-known anime series including Neon Genesis Evangelion (1995-1996), Darker Than Black (2007-2010), Soul Eater (2008-2009), Blue Exorcist (2011), and The Seven Deadly Sins (2014-2015).
