About the filmmaker:
David Farrier is a New Zealand journalist and actor who has made a career out of investigating hidden aspects of society. Tickled (2016), his highly acclaimed first feature, exposed the dark underbelly of competitive endurance tickling. The film celebrated its world premiere at the 2016 Sundance Film Festival before screening at festivals around the world.
After graduating with a journalism degree from Auckland University of Technology in 2005, Farrier began working at the late-night news show Nightline as an entertainment reporter, covering quirky local news and bigger stories overseas. Among other work, he co-hosted The Cryptid Factor radio show, directed himself in the Netflix series Dark Tourist (2008) and played himself in the Netflix mockumentary series Short Poppies (2014) and the no-budget horror-comedy Ghost Shark 2: Urban Jaws (2015). Alongside his filmmaking, Ferrier currently writes for a variety of publications and websites. Mister Organ (2023) is his second feature documentary.
