About the filmmaker:

Christopher McQuarrie is an American writer, producer and director. He received the BAFTA Award, Independent Spirit Award, and Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay for the neo-noir mystery film The Usual Suspects (1995). His other writing credits include Sundance grand jury prize winner Public Access (1993), The Tourist (2010), and Jack the Giant Slayer (2013). He made his directorial debut with crime thriller The Way of the Gun (2000).

McQuarrie has collaborated with Tom Cruise on a number of features, beginning with producing and co-writing Valkyrie (2008). He then directed Jack Reacher (2012), Mission: Impossible – Rogue Nation (2015) and Mission: Impossible – Fallout (2018). He also worked on the writing and/or production teams on Edge of Tomorrow (2014), Jack Reacher: Never Go Back (2016)The Mummy (2017), and Top Gun: Maverick (2022), which earned Academy Award nominations for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Picture.
