About the filmmaker:

Léa Fehner is a French director and screenwriter who studied screenwriting at La Fémis, an art school in Paris, France. During her time studying there, Fehner wrote the screenplay for  Silent Voice—which would become her directorial debut in 2009—before obtaining her diploma in 2006. Silent Voice (2009) proved to be an enormous success at numerous festivals, including Venice and the Deauville American Film Festival, and was crowned with the Louis Delluc Award for Best First Film in 2009. Fehrer’s sophomore feature, Ogres (2015), was also well received, earning nominations for Lumiere Awards and winning the Golden Swann for Best Film at the 2016 Cabourg Romantic Film Festival. Fehrer’s most recent film, Midwives (2024), premiered at the Berlin International Film festival and won the Panorama Award.
