Ben Wheatley is an acclaimed English director and screenwriter who cleverly incorporates comedy and satire into his genre films. Some of his notable works include Toronto International Film Festival favorites: the psychological horror film Kill List (2011), the comedy horror Sightseers (2012), the dystopian thriller High Rise (2015), and the hard-boiled 1970s-set Free Fire (2016). His debut feature Down Terrace (2009) won the Next Wave Awards for Best Feature and Best Screenplay at Fantastic Fest. His other films include the Karlovy Vary Special Jury Prize winner A Field in England (2013), the Coriolanus-inspired Happy New Year, Colin Burstead (2018), novel adaptation Rebecca (2020), and Sundance premiere In the Earth (2021).
