About the film:
Raised in the African bush country by her zoologist parents, Cady Heron (Lindsay Lohan) thinks she knows about “survival of the fittest.” But the law of the jungle takes on a whole new meaning when the home-schooled 15-year-old enters public high school for the first time and falls prey to the psychological warfare and unwritten social rules that teenage girls face today.
An endlessly-quotable pop culture phenomenon, Mean Girls (2004) is often ranked among the greatest comedies of the 21st century. Screenplay written by Tina Fey based in part on Rosalind Wiseman’s 2002 book Queen Bees and Wannabes.
About the filmmaker:
Mark Waters is an American film director best known for his mainstream comedies. He began his career as a stage actor and director. After studying at the American Film Institute, he made his feature film debut with the dark comedy The House of Yes (1997), which premiered in competition at the 1997 Sundance Film Festival. Among other films, Waters directed the remake Freaky Friday (2003), Mean Girls (2004), Just Like Heaven (2005), The Spiderwick Chronicles (2008), Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009), Vampire Academy (2014), Bad Santa 2 (2016), and He’s All That (2021). He was also a producer on 500 Days of Summer (2009).
