“David Fincher brings 1930s Hollywood to dazzling life”

– Zack Sharf, IndieWire

About the film:

Earned ten nominations at the 93rd Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Directing, Best Actor for Gary Oldman, and Best Supporting Actress for Amanda Seyfried.

1930s Hollywood is reevaluated through the eyes of scathing social critic and alcoholic screenwriter Herman J. Mankiewicz as he races to finish the screenplay of Orson Welles’ iconic masterpiece, Citizen Kane (1941).

About the filmmaker:

From a script written by his late father, Jack Fincher, in the 1990s, Mank is David Fincher’s first feature since the critically acclaimed Gone Girl (2014). Though known for his intricate psychological thrillers, Fincher evolved his filmmaking style crafting music videos. His films have received thirty Academy Award nominations, including Best Director for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (2008) and The Social Network (2010). IndieWire ranked his feature filmography, which also includes intricate thriller Se7en (1995), cult classic Fight Club (1999), and Palme d’Or nominated Zodiac (2007).

Stunning, nostalgic black and white cinematography from Erik Messerschmidt, who also worked with Fincher on the series Mindhunter.
