Reinaldo Marcus Green’s King Richard received 6 nominations at the 94th Academy Awards, including Best Picture, Best Original Screenplay, and Best Actor for Will Smith.

About the filmmaker:

New York native Reinaldo Marcus Green is a writer, director, and producer of underrepresented stories. A graduate of NYU Tisch Graduate Film School, he was one of Filmmaker Magazine’s 25 New Faces of Independent Film in 2015 after the success of his short films Stone Cars and Stop. His debut narrative feature Monsters and Men received the Special Jury Award for Outstanding First Feature at the 2018 Sundance Film Festival, and his follow-up Joe Bell had its world premiere at the 2020 Toronto International Film Festival.

With his compassionate handling of complex stories, Green was the perfect director to helm Will Smith’s passion project, King Richard. Read more from the director here.
