Official Selection, 2023 Out Here Dayton Film Festival

A reluctant maid-of-honor must attend her best friend’s off-the-grid wedding in the woods, where she’s forced to confront her ex-girlfriend, all her more successful college friends, and every bad choice she’s made in her life so far. But when someone in the wedding party goes missing, a mysterious park ranger drags Jess into the woods to search for him and Jess discovers that the strongest force of nature at this wedding…might be her.

“Miller is a talent on the rise… The writer-director offers a well-thought-out narrative with something to say about love”

—Sabina Dana Plasse, FilmThreat

About the filmmaker:

Mandy Fabian is a writer and director making her feature directorial debut with Jess Plus None (2024). Committed to doing comedy from a female perspective since she began her career, she wanted to make a feminist rom-com where the lead ends up single and happy, so she combined her love of camping and the 1983 movie The Big Chill, and Jess Plus None was born. Her projects have been featured in festivals all over the world, and her short Somebody’s Mother (2014) won her Best Filmmaker of the Year by NewFilmmakers LA. An alumni of the Sony Television Directors Program, she was also one of six directors chosen to lead an all-female crew for the Women’s Weekend Film Challenge in 2020.

Heather Olt is an actress, producer and writer from Dayton, Ohio, whose career spans the stage, film, and television. Her work in television includes roles on the soap opera General Hospital, Marvel’s Runaways (2017-2018), and 2 Hopeful Spinsters (2013), for which she was also co-creator and co-producer. Olt earned a B.F.A. in Music Theatre from Illinois Wesleyan University. Her first feature film as producer, the female-led independent production Jess Plus None (2024), screened at the 2023 Out Here Dayton Film Festival.
