About the film:

A gruesome new 4K restoration slated to play at Sitges Film Festival this October.

A young man goes through life detached, alone, and unable to control his psychotic desire to kill the things he loves most. Employed as a cameraman in a seedy porno operation, he spends his days separated from the shame and degradation by the camera he uses to record it. When he is confronted with the reality of an actual sexual encounter, without his camera for protection, he invariably strangles his partner during the lovemaking process. But then he meets a girl…and the nightmare begins!

“one of the most distinctive, unsettling, and compelling films of its year”

—Jim Hemphill, IndieWire

About the filmmaker:

Christina Hornisher was a writer and director whose brief filmography has fascinated dedicated indie horror aficionados for decades. She attended film school at UCLA, where she directed three experimental student short films in 1966, which were all notable for using groundbreaking filmic techniques that have since become common: 4×8=16, And On The Sixth Day, and The Sun is Long.

Horishner’s only feature film project Hollywood 90028 (1978) was a hardly-seen indie project until 2005, when the film was shown at the New Beverly Cinema as a part of the Grindhouse Film Festival under the title The Hollywood Hillside Strangler. Hollywood 90028 (1978) earned two more official releases under different titles—an attempted theatrical release under the title Twisted Throats and a UK VHS release with the title Insanity. Before this stunning new 4K restoration, Hollywood 90028 (1978) never received a proper release.
