About the film:

Inside of his book, adventurous Harold can make anything come to life simply by drawing it. After he grows up and draws himself off the book’s pages and into the physical world, Harold finds he has a lot to learn about real life—and that his trusty purple crayon may set off more hilarious hijinks than he thought possible. When the power of unlimited imagination falls into the wrong hands, it will take all of Harold and his friends’ creativity to save both the real world and his own.

Harold and the Purple Crayon (2024) is the first film adaptation of Crockett Johnson’s beloved children’s classic that has captivated young readers for decades.

About the filmmaker:

Carlos Saldanha is a celebrated a Brazilian animator, director, producer, and voice actor. Among other projects, he is the director of Ice Age: The Meltdown (2006), Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (2009), and Rio (2011). He earned an Academy Awards nomination for Best Animated Short Film for Gone Nutty (2002) and for Best Animated Feature for Ferdinand (2017). He is also the co-director of Ice Age (2002) and Robots (2005). Saldanha earned his MFA from New York’s School of Visual Arts.
