About the film:

About the filmmaker:

Takao Okawara is a Japanese film director, writer, and producer best known for his work on the Godzilla films. He joined Toho in 1973 as an assistant director, and worked on major films including Akira Kurosawa’s samurai epic Kagemusha (1980) and Koji Hashimoto’s The Return of Godzilla (1984). He made his feature directorial debut with Reiko the Psyche Resurrected (1991), and continued on to direct several Godzilla films, including the successful Godzilla vs. Mothra (1992) fan-favorite Godzilla vs. Destoroyah (1995), and the first film in the Millennium series, Godzilla 2000: Millennium (1999), which was his final film. Okawara’s other work includes the Japanese mythology inspired Yamato Takeru (1994) and Abduction (1997), which was nominated for 11 Japan Academy Awards, and won for Best Cinematography, Best Lighting and Best Editing.
